Mother and Daughter Struck by Car in South San Francisco Crosswalk

A mother and her 10-year-old daughter were struck by a car while lawfully crossing the street in a designated crosswalk. The accident occurred on May 20, 2012 at approximately 7:10 p.m. The victims were struck by an Audi sedan that was travelling westbound on Grand Avenue in South San Francisco, California.

According to published reports, the driver was a 26-year-old San Bruno woman who reportedly told investigators that she did not see the victims because of glare from the setting sun. Drivers have a responsibility to adjust their speed in accordance with changes in visibility.     

The victims were transported from the scene to San Francisco General Hospital. The girl suffered a broken arm and her mother was treated for minor injuries.

Pedestrian Killed by Big-Rig Truck in San Francisco

The accident occurred at the intersection of 13th Street and Folsom in San Francisco. This dangerous intersection is located beneath the Highway 101 overpass. A San Francisco Police Department spokesman indicated that the victim was struck by a gasoline tanker big-rig truck which was making a right turn on to 13th Street. The victim was reportedly in a crosswalk when he was struck by the truck.

Fatal Accident Takes the Life of Cyclist in Napa

A tragic accident took the life of 56-year-old Alfredo Hernandez Pedroza. Mr. Pedroza was a long time Napa resident and father of Napa City Council candidate Alfredo Pedroza. At Matiasic Roth & Johnson LLP our sincere condolences go out to the victim's family in their time of immense grief.

The horrific accident occurred on May 17, 2012, at approximately 6:30 pm. The victim was riding his bicycle on Silverado Trail near Yountville Cross Road when he was struck by a Ford hatchback that was traveling southbound at approximately 55 mph. According to published reports, the victim died instantly following the collision.

The driver of the car has been identified as 20-year-old Calistoga resident Cammie Muntz. She reportedly told California Highway Patrol officers that she had fallen asleep behind the wheel and veered off the road prior to the collision. It is unclear if drugs or alcohol had any role in this accident.

Cyclist Killed in Hit and Run Accident in Dublin

A gruesome accident resulted in the death of a cyclist on May 15, 2012. The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Doherty Road near Fall Creek Road in Dublin, California. According to published reports, the victim was identified as 57-year-old Bo Hu of China. The victim was riding his bike along Doherty Road when he was struck by a car which fled the scene of the accident.  A passerby called 911 and the responding paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene of the accident. 

Investigators analyzed some vehicle parts and debris which were found at the scene and determined that it came from a 2012 Mercedes Benz. The police investigation eventually led to the home of a 32-year-old San Francisco attorney who lives less than three miles from the scene of the accident. Police discovered a black Mercedes Benz with significant front end damage in the garage. Spencer Freeman Smith was arrested for gross negligence and felony hit-and-run in connection with the accident.

Woman Dies After Being Struck By Car


According to published reports, an unidentified woman suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a car in San Francisco. The tragic accident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. on May 6, 2012. The woman was walking through the crosswalk at the intersection of Euclid and Masonic Avenues when she was struck by a truck that was travelling southbound on Masonic. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
